The Rose: Come Back to ME
In 2017, The Rose built a millions-strong global fan base as a breakout Korean indie rock band —after all four members dropped out of the K-pop training system to pursue music on their own terms. Now, after a turbulent three-year hiatus, The Rose is making their comeback with an electrifying tour. The Rose documentary is an intimate, all-access view of the band's audacious bid for redemption, independence, and a second chance for glory.
With exclusive access to the band as they write, record and perform in their comeback tour, we’ll be with The Rose for their journey to change the world of music while staying true to themselves.

Q&A Guests and Moderators
Director: Eugene Yi
Eugene Yi is a Korean American filmmaker and editor from Los Angeles. His directing work includes Free Chol Soo Lee (2022, director credit shared with Julie Ha), which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, and aired on PBS’s Independent Lens; and The AAPI List (working title), an interview series focusing on notable figures in the AAPI community, for HBO. His notable editing work includes the 2018 News and Documentary Emmy-nominated Farewell Ferris Wheel; and Out of My Hand, which premiered at the Berlinale, and was nominated for the 2015 Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award. His web video editing work has been in numerous publications and outlets, including The New York Times, Frontline, The Washington Post, and Al Jazeera. He is a graduate of Brown University, where he studied neuroscience.
Producer: Diane Quon
Diane Quon is an Academy Award-nominated producer who worked as a marketing executive at NBC and at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles before moving back to her hometown of Chicago with her family.
With a long-time desire to produce her own films and after watching some wonderful documentaries while attending her first Sundance Film Festival in 2013, Diane decided to try her hand at directing/producing a short documentary in 2015 (thank you, Cliff!). Since then, Diane has produced multiple documentaries often with emerging and BIPOC directors at the helm. Her first four films were Kartemquin Films co-productions including: the Oscar and Emmy-nominated, Peabody and Sundance award-winning film, Minding the Gap directed by Bing Liu (Sundance 2018, POV, Hulu); Emmy-nominated Finding Yingying directed by Jiayan “Jenny” Shi (SXSW 2020, MTVDocs); The Dilemma of Desire with director Maria Finitzo (SXSW 2020, Showtime); and For the Left Hand (Woodstock 2021, PBS) directed by Kartemquin founder, Gordon Quinn, and Leslie Simmer.
Moderator: Janelle Wang
Janelle Wang is an anchor for NBC Bay Area News, co-anchoring the 5 p.m. newscast alongside Jessica Aguirre and the 5:30 p.m. newscast with Raj Mathai. She also reports for the station’s 6 p.m. newscast.
Since joining NBC Bay Area, Wang has earned three Emmy Awards for her coverage of the Valley Fire in Middletown, the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland and the North Bay wildfires in Wine Country. Her reporting has taken her around the globe, including to Sochi, Russia, for the Winter Olympics and to Kansas City for the San Francisco Giants’ World Series victory.
Prior to NBC Bay Area, Wang spent more than eight years at KGO-TV ABC7 in San Francisco, where she covered a wide range of stories, from the deadly San Bruno gas explosion to the steroid scandal in professional sports. She also reported extensively on the Scott Peterson murder trial, with her courtroom notes reaching readers as far as South America and Europe.
